Why do children need environmental education? How necessary is it for them to become aware of their relationship with their natural and social environment?
Ecosystems, the food chain, forests, animals, climate, traffic, ecological disturbances, reforestation, air pollution, waste management and recycling are some of the topics we approach in order to help children understand the environment they live in and recognise their role in it.
Every day the children, inside and outside the school, create activities where, with the participation of the educator, they learn, participate, evaluate and form values and attitudes, developing a holistic attitude towards life.
The nature and discovery corner is a constant feedback from their excursions in the forest where they can observe the changes in nature, listen, touch and smell. But the children also visit their neighbourhood in an effort to learn about the environment they live in every day, to learn about their city. Together with the teachers they formulate work plans where knowledge and learning take the form of play, exploration, testing and discovery.
But our courtyard is still a place for action, play, relaxation and entertainment. Every day the children visit it to dig, water and care for their own bushes.
